Article 87 — The armed forces and national defence
(1) A fegyveres erők Magyarország védelmét, területének, szuverenitásának és lakosságának megóvását szolgálják. Szolgálják Magyarország nemzetközi kötelezettségeinek teljesítését is.
(2) A fegyveres erők polgári irányítás alatt állnak.
(1) The armed forces serve the defence of Hungary and the protection of its territory, its sovereignty, and its population. They also serve the fulfilment of Hungary’s international obligations.
(2) The armed forces are subject to civilian command.
